Investigation of the protective effect of Tarantula cubensis extract on the liver and brain of rats exposed to gentamicin

This study aimed to investigate the possible protective effects of Tarantula cubensis extract (TCE) on liver and brain rats exposed gentamicin (GM). A total 40 male Sprague Dawley were randomly divided into four equal groups: control, TCE, GM, GM+TCE. Some biochemical indices, apoptotic markers (B-cell lymphoma 2 [Bcl-2] Bcl-2 associated X protein [Bax]) histopathological changes evaluated. In GM group, serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT), bilirubin, tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations increased; albumin, protein, superoxide dismutase (SOD) antioxidant status (TAS) decreased. Apoptosis induced down-regulation up-regulation Bax in tissues group. GM-treated animals demonstrated several changes. TCE administration restored some Lipid peroxidation apoptosis decreased, defense increased, indices (AST, ALT, ALP, GGT, bilirubin) albumin levels increased TCE+GM group compared conclusion, high doses induce adverse rats. It was concluded that can improve these by reducing lipid apoptosis, improving system. be used protect against toxic effect other chemical agents veterinary medicine.
